The robots also come with a feature called Carpet Boost that increases its power when it senses dirt on the carpet.
The Q5 and Q7 Max Series both scored very well in our tests on floors that were bare, and they are particularly adept in removing hair from dogs. They do have some flaws, however, that prevent them from being our first option. One of the Q5's shortcomings is that its navigation system doesn't have AI-powered obstacles avoidance. It's also prone to getting stuck on shoes and socks and could not navigate densely packed rooms very efficiently during our tests. It also doesn't come with cameras that let it see the corners of a room.
It's still a great deal, especially if your home or office has lots of unfinished floors and you're looking to save some money. It's also quiet and works while you're at work or school. It doesn't have the edge-to-edge floor vacuuming feature that's offered in the more expensive iRobot Roomba X30. It's also less effective in mopping, using disposable wet wipes that don't hold on well and aren't able to handle dried-on debris. The Q5 is self-emptying cradle, however. If you need to clean the mopping pad, it can be replaced with an awe-inspiring one in a matter of just a few seconds.
2. iRobot Roomba X30
The iRobot Roomba X30 packs impressive mopping and vacuuming capabilities into an elegant, compact package. Its intelligent cleaning maps as well as fluid navigation make it simple to clean, and efficient in dealing with larger particles like pet hair. It's a little more expensive than iRobot Combo v9+ or iRobot Roomba j9+ but has superior suction and an onboard bin that automatically empties into the base. It also supports voice commands using Amazon Alexa and Google Assistant. It can clean the floor even after it vacuums. This is something we haven't seen in other robot vacuum/mop combination.
3. Roomba X40 from iRobot
With a sleek circular design that appears like a regular Roomba than the competitors' boxy units This robot vacuum and mop combo is among the most appealing looking in our evaluations. The latest model from iRobot happens to be its smartest and has advanced features like Enhanced Dirt Detection Technology as well as future compatibility with Matter (another company's robot that is able to wash mop pads).
It's also the only robot vacuum/mop to score a perfect 10 out of 10 in our testing. This is due to the combination of high-tech sensors, including a structured light system, camera and multiple lasers. The X40 Ultra is also the only robot in our tests that is fully self-refill and empty its base station and it boasts its own self-cleaning mop pads.
Like other iRobot models like the X40 is user-friendly, offering an easy mobile app interface, and integration with Amazon Alexa, Apple HomeKit, and Google Assistant. The only real drawback is that it's still quite an eerily noisy device which could be an issue if you use it in the morning prior to work, or at night when you try to fall asleep.
It's also quite expensive, though it's not as pricey as the Ecovacs X2 Omni or Roborock's S8 MaxV Ultra both of which are similarly capable and better-looking. This is a two-in-one vacuum that is very efficient however it will cost you more and create more noise.
iRobot L20 Ultra
The L20 Ultra is a top-of-the-range robot vacuum and mop, with a variety of sophisticated features that will let you forget about your chores. The L20 Ultra is a hands-free cleaning device that is similar to Ecovacs' top-of-the-range X2 Omni or Roborock's S8 Pro Ultra. It features a multi-functional dock that can automatically emptys the bin of the vacuum, refills the water tank, as well as washes and dry the mop pads.
The smart robot uses LIDAR and structured lighting to draw out floor plans and detect obstacles. It navigates more intelligently than its top competitors. 5. iRobot Roomba RX3
The RX3 is a more efficient cleaner than you might imagine from its price. It is a good vacuum cleaner and was able to remove 55% of debris in our tests. (It was second to the Roomba Q5 Pro). It also mops with a single pad that uses a reciprocating motion that cleans better than most of the other robot mop cleaners we've tried. And it's highly self-sufficient with a fully-featured app as well as a self-emptying, washable base.
The well-designed iRobot application guides you through an initial mapping session that collects data about your floorplan as well as any "no-go" areas you set on the map. It can be used to create cleaning schedules or to create a spot-clean. It can also be used to it to rank your most filthy areas for better performance. The app has a range of features, such as seasonal suggestions, customized mapping, and advanced cleaning settings.
